"2004 International Symposium on Safety Science and Technology" was held in Shanghai, China, during October 25-28, 2004.

This International Symposium was organised by China Occupational Safety & Health Association (Formerly Chinese Society for Science and Technology of Labour Protection), China Ordnance Society, China Coal Society, China Civil Engineering Society, System Engineering Society of China, Beijing Institute of Technology, Central South University, Shanghai Institute of Technology, Chinese People's Armed Police Force Academy, Jiaozuo Institute of Technology, and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.
